Metro Retail Compendium
Retail is one of the foundations of our society. With the METRO Retail Compendium, METRO GROUP dedicates a reference book to the industry that provides readers with reliable data, facts and noteworthy information. Thousands of industry insiders and outsiders value the annual publication – for good reason. Because retail is not merely one of the most important economic sectors, but also a defining factor for the way we live.
Ever since it was first published in autumn 2003, the free METRO Retail Compendium has been providing meaningful information about the retail industry in Germany, Europe and the world. In the current issue, we pay particular attention to the digital shift and therefore focus on an even user-friendlier linkage between the print and the online editions.
The whole world of commerce
Above all, the METRO Retail Compendium is meant to be useful. Therefore, only actually relevant information is admitted in the reference work. Diagrams clarify the meaning of the provided data, while an extensive glossary of trade terms facilitates orientation in the complex world of trade. Important dates and events for the industry are included, as is an overview of retail-relevant institutions and associations with their contact details.
Special Topics: In-depth information on selected topics
From the second issue on, the Special Topics have been an integral part of the METRO Retail Compendium. They explain current developments and trends in detail and provide background knowledge on general trade topics. In the current issue, we address the generation known as the “Millennials”, who are changing society and the economy alike with their digital lifestyle. In the second and third special topics, we examine the motivation and challenges of young entrepreneurs in Germany and consider the state of service in retail.
Quality speaks for itself!
Demand for the METRO Retail Compendium has been rising steadily in recent years. Since the first edition was published in 2003, total circulation has increased by 30 percent. And the reference work is not merely used in Germany. METRO GROUP also publishes an English-language international edition, which puts particular focus on European and international retail.
